if you have been watching the news tonight then you might have seen where hertford, nc was devastated tonight by tornados. that isnt that far away from us. we have been under tornado watches & warnings all afternoon/evening.
after supper tonight abigail was beside herself with fear & worry. we had a concerned friend call us 2 times to 1. let us know about the impending storm track (as she was watching the news at the time which showed the storm track bearing down on us) & 2. to make sure we survived it.
well it really made abigail nervous with the wind & the thunder & lightening & the EAS (Emergency Advisory System??) going off on the tv almost constantly with that weird beeping & then the weather station's adivsory concerning the storm repeating over & over.
well i reminded her of scripture. 2 Tim. 1:7 to be exact. "For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline."
we also went over Phillipians 4:6 "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God."
abigail has 2 Tim 1:7 memorized as she has fear of the dark so she repeats it to herself when she gets scared, but the word out of Phillipians was new to her tonight. so i explained to her what it meant & then we walked it out....we petitioned God - who we know calmed the sea at Jesus' command - to please allow the storm to pass. i am not exaggerating or in any way being boastful of our prayer as i know i have no standing with God...but i'm telling you...things settled...almost instantly. abigail's faith knows no bounds. it was a good moment.
& on a bad note, clay had to bring in our basketball goal into the garage because of the wind. so earlier he opened the big door & rolled it into the garage. we have been very careful to not allow the cats into the garage with our little brooder in there of chicks. well clay was preoccupied with making sure the basketball didnt crush our little van so he didnt know that phinneas...the very bad cat (as he is now know) scooted into the garage.
i had heard some loud cheeping but i didnt think anything of it. i guess i should have gotten up & checked. when elizabeth went out to put calpurnia in her kennel for the night at 10PM....well guess what she found...1/2 the bodies of 2 of the chicks. i was so upset. clay felt bad. but man i was not happy. so now we are down to 17. phinneas was out there picking off chicks 1 at a time....having some chicken nuggets. ugh!!!
